The three sets of Directed Activities that comprise In The Kitchen teaches the use of customary and metric measurements units. The students follow recipes to prepare an extensive array of dishes. Each Activity is leveled; this combined with the on-screen help lets even non-reader learn fractional notation. At the more complex levels, the students will perform operations with these units.

• Preparing for a Formal Dinner works with cups, liters, and timer setting.
• Preparing for a Birthday Luncheon works with teaspoons, tablespoons, mL, and temperature setting.
• Preparing for a Picnic Lunch works with pounds, ounces, grams, and cooking methods.

Additionally, each of the three sections in In The Kitchen also contains a Playground section that allows students to set a table and decorate for the event.
